Learn to Harvest Like a Portuguese Pro! Sept. 2nd, 2017

Brejinho da Costa Winery Harvest Experience, Sept. 2, 2017

As many of you know, I LOVE wine! Actually, I’m probably officially obsessed with it.  For me, wine is the most authentic expression of consumable art that we have in our society. So when I'm invited to join a really cool wine event (that I personally support), I enjoy sharing the information with others.

Over this past year, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know a lot of talented wine producers and visit some gorgeous wineries in Portugal. The newest addition to my list is a place near Comporta (Alentejo) called Brejinho da Costa.

I met Luís Camacho Simões, Brejinho da Costa’s winemaker, and their charismatic business development manager, Hugo Candeias, at an exclusive tasting hosted by Filipe Carvalho Cardoso this past July.

So when I leaned that they were having their first public harvest event September 2nd, I immediately checked my schedule to see if I could go! This is what they have planned:

Upon arrival, you'll receive this year's gift pack which includes the exclusive harvest T-shirt and hat to wear during the event as well as an autographed bottle of wine to take home.

At 9h00 you’ll start with “Harvest 101” workshop facilitated by Luís Camacho Simões, the winemaker himself. He'll teach you everything you need to know about Brejinho da Costa’s grape varieties and the harvesting process. Afterwards you’ll go out into the fields with Luis and the production team where you'll learn more about (and even participate in) the grapes’ journey from vine to barrel (or steel)!

Around 13h00, you’ll break for a traditional BBQ lunch with a DJ, typical desserts and lots of wine of course. You’ll get to meet and interact with the whole team: winery owner, production staff and business directors.

Admission is 35€ for adults and 10€ for children between the ages of 10-15 (0-9 are free). Limited to 100 people.

It sounds awesome and I wish I could be there!
